발 간 사
우리나라 농업은 눈부신 발전을 거듭해 왔습니다. 단위면적당 생산량이 세계적인
수준에까지 이르러 국민들에게 풍부한 먹을거리를 제공해 주었습니다. 최근 농업이
가지는 환경보존 및 경관유지, 오염정화의 기능이 중요시되고 안전한 먹을거리에
대한 소비자의 요구가 커지면서 친환경농업에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있습니다. 이에
농업의 지속성을 유지하고 농산물의 안전성을 중시하는 유기농업이 확대되었고
유기재배에 관한 연구 또한 활발히 이루어지고 있습니다.
농촌진흥청과 각 도 농업기술원은 유기농업 및 친환경농업, 유기농업기술에 대한
연구를 꾸준히 추진하여 많은 성과를 거두었습니다. 그 결과들을 종합·정리하여
지난 2007년 『최신유기농업기술』을 발간했습니다. 농촌진흥청은 올해에도 각 연구
기관의 유기농업에 대한 주요 연구 성과들을 종합·정리하여 『08년 최신유기농업
기술』을 발간하게 되었습니다.
이 책에는 유기농재배법, 토양비료 관리, 병해충잡초관리, 유기농자재에 대한
정보를 비롯해 유기축산연구와 유기농산물유통에 대한 연구 결과를 수록하여 유기
재배 현장의 문제를 해결하는데 도움을 주고자 하였습니다.
아무쪼록 본 책자가 유기농업인과 유기농업 연구자 및 유관기관에서 참고자료로
유용하게 활용되어 유기농산물 생산 및 친환경 농업기술 정착에 많은 도움이
되기를 기대합니다.
앞으로도 농촌진흥청은 국내 유기농업기술 향상과 보급을 위해 최선을 다할 것임을
약속드립니다. 감사합니다.
